Palazzi e castelli dei conti Lodron

 title=

The residences of the Counts Lodron.

The small town of Lodrone preserves the indelible marks of the Lodron counts, who have now vanished from this valley for a few decades. The Castello Lodrone (or Santa Barbara), the oldest residence of the Counts, the Palazzo Lodron Bavaria, seat of customs and fortified residence, finally the Palazzo Lodron del Caffaro, the most accommodating Renaissance noble residence with the small convent and the noble chapel of S. Croce, are the silent and solemn witnesses of a past era marked by the domination of the family over the Valle del Chiese. If during the Middle Ages the nobles of Europe preferred to dwell in fortresses that were not easily accessible, such as the Lodrone Castle, with the Renaissance they preferred to move their accommodation to more comfortable and functional buildings, such as the Bavaria and Caffaro Palaces.
