The church of Santa Maria Assunta.
The church has origins dating back to the eleventh century, but the many works of expansion and additions over the centuries (especially those between the sixteenth and nineteenth centuries) no longer suggest its original form. The bell-tower is the only element that still retains its original Romanesque shape. It features depictions in the lunettes of the presbytery, with scenes taken from the Birth of the Virgin, the Presentation in the Temple, the Annunciation, the Birth of Jesus, the Adoration of the Shepherds, the Adoration of the Magi, and the majestic Crucifixion frescoed by Simon II on the back wall.
STRENGTH:
The fresco decorations in the presbytery, made in 1543 by Simone II Baschenis, are of great historical and artistic value.
